Physically Challenged Safari Options and Itineraries

Safari Itinerary for the Physically Challenged

This safari combines two of Southern Africa's most renowned destinations - the Okavango Delta in Botswana and Cape Town in South Africa. The trip begins with a 5-night stay in Botswana's Moremi Wildlife Reserve, situated within one of the richest, most diverse natural wildlife areas, the Okavango, which is the largest inland river delta in the world and one of Africa's prime game-viewing locations. Here you will enjoy a true African bush experience, camping in pristine private campsites, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the magical African bush. From the Okavango you will be whisked away to the scenically beautiful and very popular "Mother City", Cape Town for four nights.

All accommodation, facilities and amenities are chosen so that persons with physical disabilities, including wheelchair users, can thoroughly enjoy a full and exciting safari experience.

Recommended Itinerary

Fly Johannesburg to Maun, Botswana. On arrival drive through to Moremi Game Reserve. A mobile tented camp will have been erected in advance of your arrival.

Founded by the BaTawana tribe in 1962, Moremi Game Reserve's 487 100 hectares are some of Africa's most lush and beautiful. Situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Moremi's magic is in its diversity. The vegetation may be dominated by graceful mopane, but there are over 1000 documented plant species here; and though the landscape is physically flat, it is a patchwork of floodplains, some seasonal and some permanent, with meandering waterways, lagoons and dry peninsulas. The reintroduction of the rhino in 2001 means that all the Big Five are found here, along with thriving populations of spotted hyena, cheetah and wild dog. The birdlife is varied and prolific, with over 400 species recorded.

Spend three nights in a mobile tented camp on the western side of Moremi.

Move camp from western Moremi to the Khwai River in the eastern part of the reserve. Two nights mobile tented camp.

Drive to Maun in time to connect with the afternoon flight to Johannesburg.

Overnight Johannesburg en route to Cape Town.

Fly Johannesburg to Cape Town. Met and transferred to your hotel which will be your base for four nights.

During your time in Cape Town the following tours and activities will be organised.

  • V & A Waterfront - great shops and restaurants
  • Kistenbosch Botanical Gardens - beautiful gardens at the foot of Table Mountain covering an area of 528 hectares with 36 hectares of cultivated garden. The gardens are a celebration of South African flora - showcasing only indigenous South African plants.
  • Table Mountain - cable car trip and spectacular views
  • Cape Point Nature Reserve - dramatic and stunningly beautiful natural coastline
  • Boulders Beach - home to thousands of Jackass penguins
  • The lush and fertile wine lands of Stellenbosch and Franschoek

Transfer to Cape Town Airport. Depart South Africa.
